Best Photography Website of 2006 to be Named by Web Marketing Association

Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 12, 2006

The Web Marketing Association announces the call for entries for its 10th annual international WebAward Competition at http://www.2006webaward.org. The WebAwards is the standards-defining competition that sets industry benchmarks based on the seven criteria of a successful Web site. The deadline for entry is May 31, 2006.

The photography industry has been added as a new WebAward category in 2006 allowing firms to compete for the right to be honored as the Best Photography Web site of 2006.

The photography industry is very competitive when it comes to Web development and photography companies and photographers can benefit from the independent evaluation of their online efforts that the award judges provide, said William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. From a preliminary review of photography Web sites, we believe there is an opportunity for some photography companies to standout from rest. These above average sites will be able to call themselves award-winning websites after participating in the WebAwards.

Web sites are judged on seven criteria including design, innovation, content, technology, interactivity, copy writing and ease of use and receive a numeric score. Each WebAward entry is judged against other entries in its industry category and then against an overall standard of excellence. Entrants also benefit from receiving valuable feedback from the WebAwards professional judging panel on their Web site development efforts.

Participants in the 2006 WebAwards photography category will receive their scores in each of the seven criteria compared to the average of the entire industry. That type of feedback and benchmarking alone in worth the price of admission, said Rice.

Judging for the 2006 WebAwards will take place in June through August, with winners announced in September. Judges will consist of a select group of Internet marketing professionals who have direct experience designing and managing Web sites with an in-depth understanding of the current state-of-the-art in Web site development and technology. Mark Kingdon, CEO of Organic, Inc. (http://www.organic.com) has been selected to lead the judging panel this year. Past judges have included top executives from leading organizations such as Ogilvy Interactive, Saatchi & Saatchi, Blattner Brunner, Comedy Central, Sun Microsystems, Refinery, Euro RSCG, EPB Interactive, New York Post Interactive, The Cincinnati Enquirer, J. Walter Thompson, Xerox, Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Modem Media, and Answerthink just to name a few.

The 2006 WebAward Competition current sponsors include Burst Media (http://www.burstmedia.com), SimpleFeed (http://www.simplefeed.com), Register.com (http://www.register.com), NewsUSA (http://www.newsusa.com), AdTools Inc(http://www.adtoolsinc.com), Small Army (http://www.smallarmy.net), Perseus Development Corp (http://www.perseus.com) and PRWeb (http://www.prweb.com). Attributor Partners With Magazine Publishers of America and Periodical Publishers Association to Stop Piracy and Help Monetize Content Across the Web

San Mateo, CALIF. (PRWEB) June 10, 2010

Attributor, provider of the first Web-wide content monitoring and identification platform, today announced partnerships with the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA) and the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA). The partnership goals are to provide magazine industry professionals in the US and UK with an effective way to stop piracy, increase visibility of how their content is used across the Web, and create more revenue-generating syndication opportunities.

A key aspect of the shared vision between the three organizations involves protecting the value of publisher content. A recent Attributor study found that publisher content reaches 5.3 times more audience on sites who are not licensed to republish those articles. Another study on online magazine infringement highlighted 20 of the more than 2,000 domains that illegally host full-issue downloads of magazines. Unauthorized content reuse is growing more than 15 percent per year, which translates into millions of dollars in lost licensing and advertising revenue per year.

Illegal syndication is taking its toll on the publishing industry, and individual publishers are struggling to monetize and protect the value of their content, said Jim Pitkow, Attributor CEO. Its vital that these publishers have control over their content to eliminate piracy and increase revenue opportunities. Our partnerships with MPA and PPA will allow more publishers access to these services.

With the advent of multi-platform publishing, magazine brands face a very real threat from piracy on the internet, said Barry McIlheney, chief executive of the PPA. At the PPA we have a responsibility to help members tackle this issue and together with Attributor we can provide a way of identifying and protecting high-value content.

With this alliance, the MPAs 225 domestic and 50 international publishing companies, and the PPAs nearly 200 publishing company members, who together publish more than 3,000 consumer, business and customer magazines, will receive a discount on the full suite of Attributor products and services. This discount includes Guardian, which allows content owners real-time access to actionable intelligence about where and how their content is propagating across the entire Internet. Guardian enables member companies to protect their existing online licensing and advertising revenues, identify new licensing opportunities, as well as up-sell existing syndication customers

Attributors content monitoring technology is available in 18 languages and helps content owners protect their copyrighted content. The technology provides 24/7-piracy protection by monitoring more than 35 billion Web pages, including hosting sites, cyberlockers and link farms, continuously scanning for copies of original works. Once a potential infringing copy is found, the content is verified before takedown notifications are sent.

After a few years of significant underperformance, the telecommunication Web sites are generally in line with the overall ISAR Index. Telecommunication Web sites are above average for each of the judging criteria 3-year averages other than for content. Being able to effectively demonstrate a telephone or PDA increases the likelihood that consumers would purchase online or by telephone rather than in person. They understand that many potential customers, particularly younger consumers, the Internet is the first stop when researching most major purchases.

Each year the Web Marketing Association names the Best Telecommunication Website based on the scores submitted by the competition judges. Recent winners of the Best Telecommunication Web site WebAwards include:

2005 Disney Mobile Studios - http://www.disneymobilestudios.com/

2004 Sprint PCS Ready Link - http://ready.sprint.com/archive

2003 BellSouth e-Bill Flash Demo http://www.bellsouth.com/ebill/index.html?hpmg=ebill

2002 - Frontier CyberCenter Online Tour http://www.frontieronline.com/cybercenter/tour/

A complete list of past winners and the entry form for companies who wish to compete for 2006 honors can be found at http://telecommunication.webaward.org.

Using the quantifiable data collected from 9,748 Web site evaluations over the past decade, the WebAwards has defined and recognized industry-specific benchmarks for successful Web sites in each of the seven judging criteria and released an Internet Standards Assessment Report to detail the findings of the study.

Participants in the 2006 WebAwards telecommunication category will receive their scores in each of the seven criteria compared to the average of the entire industry. That type of feedback and benchmarking alone in worth the price of admission, said Rice.
